Obituary of George Shullick

George B. Shullick, 84, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born November 29, 1933 in Perryopolis, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 54 years moving from Pennsylvania.

George was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War.

After returning from the service, he started working for BandO railroad. He was then hired as an engineer with Lorain Community Hospital when it opened in 1962. He remained with Lorain Community Hospital for 45 years, retiring in 2007.

George started the family tradition of car racing, which now spans several generations. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, motorcycles and motorcycle racing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, George (Kimberly) Shullick of Vermilion and Patrick (Kimberly) Shullick of Vermilion; daughter, Debbie Eahle of FL, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and brothers, Melvin Shullick of FL, Dan Shullick of Sheffield Village, and David Shullick of FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mable L (nee Blake) Shullick in 2015; son, Tony Shullick in 2006; parents, Michael and Anna (nee Barto) Shullick, brother, Charles Shullick; and his sister, Josephine Butchko.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors at 8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
