Obituary of David Liljegren

David Beckley Liljegren, 67, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals of Cleveland after a short battle with cancer.

He was born February 23, 1951 in Cleveland and had been a life long Vermilion resident.

David graduated from the Vermilion High School class of 1969 and attended Bowling Green.

He worked for Ford Motor Co., Avon for 42 years retiring in 2016.

He had attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and was a member of the Vermilion Boat Club and the Crew's Nest at Put-In Bay. David enjoyed boating, snow skiing, and scuba diving with the Lake Erie Wreck Divers and the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team (MAST). Outside of boating, David's other passion was music, playing the drums and singing in several bands including the Broken Bricks and Telegraph Rd..

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patti (nee Horan) Liljegren of Vermilion; brother, James (Jean) Liljegren; brother-in-law, R.J. Horan; niece, Sarah Horan of Vermilion, nephews, Sean (Maridee) Liljegren of Avon Lake and Matt Liljegren of Chicago; and great nephew, Rex.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Hilda M (nee Creel) Liljegren.

Friends may call Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 12 Noon until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Father Ron Brickner will officiate.
